LASER SCANNING SURVEYING

3D Laser Scanning

3D LASER SCANNING

We use fully calibrated laser scanners that record geometrical information about any object or surface within its field of view. The collected data is then processed into a point cloud file and shared via Faro web share.

Measured Building Survey

MEASURED BUILDING SURVEYS

A measured survey is a vital part of any project’s plans and development, providing accurate details, levels and measurements of an existing building. All our measured surveys come with the Point Cloud file along with the DWG and 1:50 PDF’s.

Topographical Survey

3D LASER SCANNING

A Topographical Survey is a 2-D representation of a 3D landscape. The characteristics of a topographical survey can vary, but some of the most common elements include Natural and manmade features, levels, boundary , trees, drainage and buildings.

PROFILE SCANNER SURVEYS

TAKING BUILDING SURVEYS TO THE NEXT LEVEL.

At Profile Scanner Surveys, we use the latest Faro Scanner technology that enables us to document buildings to incredible accuracy. We then process the scans collected from site and “register” them together to create highly detailed “point clouds”.

3D Laser scanning is becoming increasingly popular in many industries and is becoming the preferred method of surveying for the following.

● Production of Measured Surveys.

● Building Documentation

● Building 3D Modeling

● Scan-to-BIM.

● 2D Facade and Floor Planning.

● Verification for Pre-Fabrication.

● Building Movement Monitoring.

● Structural steel erection.

● Pipe Modeling.

● Volume Calculation.

● Crime Scene investigation.

● Archaeological Digs.

● Accident Investigation.

PROCESS OF 3D POINT CLOUD SURVEY EXPLAINED

01.

CONTACT US

Contact us via our email or the contact form or just give us a call with your project address, size and survey requirements. We will then get back to you with a quotation and a possible commence date.

02.

SCANNING THE SITE

Should you choose to proceed, one of our surveyors will visit site on the agreed date and begin the scanning process. Depending on the level of detail required a single scan can take Three minutes to Thirty minutes. A typical day’s scanning will consist of 25-35 scans.

This is usually enough to capture a typical three-level, four-bedroom terrace house inside and out, including the garden.

03.

PROCESSING AND REGISTRATION

The individual scans will then be taken back to our office and transferred onto a desktop.

The scans are then opened in Faro Scene for processing and joining together, known as “registration”.

The success of the registration process is dependent on the experience of the scanner operator and the position of the scans taken.

In some cases, targets or spears will be needed to be used to aid the registration process.

Once we have checked the registered scans and are satisfied with the tolerances, we then create a single point cloud file and will upload to Faro Webshare allowing you to access, download and explore your virtual site.
